Here are a few photos from our Grand Canyon trip last fall plus a couple from the John Heinz NWR by the Philly airport. The refuge is one of the last large areas of freshwater marsh in PA. It is weird because a pair of eagles has bred here for a couple of years right under the flightpath of one of the busiest airports in the area! not to mention a stone's throw from I-95

Catbird!
Juliet and I went for a walk in the woods today. We encountered a catbird. To a certain 1.5 year old this was just the greatest. A bird that mews! I love seeing the world through a child's eyes especially in the springtime. Juliet has discovered Dandelion fluff blowing recently and is almost as good as a catbird. Hope everyone is well this spring.

Hello, family!
It's been a while since I've written on here, so I guess this is long overdue (though some of you don't bother writing at all.) We are finally seeing some green up here in the frozen north. The trees are beginning to bud and the grass is slowly turning. There are still some remnant piles of snow in my back yard, mainly from two giant drifts that I really thought would take all summer to melt, but I think they will be gone soon. We are coming to the end of a month where Mike has been in Louisiana for training, and the kids and I are very excited to see him come home in a couple days.
Nathan is turning 3 in a week and a half! I can't believe it either! He wants me to make a chocolate cake shaped like Thomas the Engine (one of his new favorite characters.) I will do my best, but we will see how this turns out. Ayla is growing, too. She is already 10 months old, another thing I can hardly believe. I feel like life just keeps speeding up faster and faster. It's funny how when we were kids, it felt like a day lasted forever! Now I can barely keep up with a year.
The summer we came up to Alaska, we had record rainfall for this region. This last winter we had record snowfall. I guess we came at record breaking time.

Holly and I got married 37 years ago yesterday. We plan to celebrate today by going into the Canadian Badlands ... Drumheller in specific. It's a nice, sunny day too
